My obsession with fresh flowers and funky table settings are a bit over the top … so I figured I would show you how to combine the two for a rustic/fall inspired table setting! I spent the morning at a fresh flower farm nearby. Every year, I buy a subscription and I can pick my own flowers – it is the most zen way to spend a morning/afternoon. There are so many different types of flowers that range in colour and sizing and it makes it so fun to create your own fresh flower centre pieces. I am obsessed!! Here are a few pics from my day today.
Now onto making my my centre pieces. I am always looking for unconventional vases for my flowers. Sometimes it can get boring to use the same vases over and over. I have these cute little candle holders that I bought from a local decor store years ago and thought – why not?! And, the best part is they aren’t very tall, so you can actually leave them on the table during dinner and still see your company. I cut down my flowers quite a bit so the flowers would just sit over the rim of the vase/candle holder.
Time to set my table. I grabbed placemats, my white dinner plates and dressed them up with a very fall inspired napkin tied together with some rustic string. Tying these napkins just adds the best final touch! Here are a few before pics of my table without the fresh flowers.
And now the final step. Adding fresh flowers! To me, there is no comparison. The fresh flowers give the table such a pop of colour and really bring all these items together. You’ll see that I have two different centre piece examples here to show… one setting is with the candle holders as vases and the other with one bigger vase and taller flowers. Which one do you like better?

I much prefer the smaller arrangements. More colour and you make an excellent point re being able to see each other across the table. Use the tall arrangement when you don’t fancy the person sitting opposite you :). How cool is having a farm nearby where you can pick your own flowers? Great pics!
Totally agree, Deb!! Yes – the farm is amazing!! Love spending time there. xoxo
Looks great Dana! Great way to spend an afternoon!
Thanks, Lynne!! xo
I’m with Deb. Although you’re tall, your flowers shouldn’t be when you’re trying to see your guest across the table.
LOL! It’s so true.. I guess tall people don’t think about that 😉 xo
